The Vendor is required to provide excellent translation, copy editing, and/or comparative editing, in English or French, on an “as and when requested basis” for various types of documents (tribunal decisions and ruling, internal and external communication products, as well as administrative documents).
- Responsible for providing support services to federal administrative tribunals by way of a single, integrated organization.
- These services include the common functions of corporate services (for example, human resources, financial services, information technology, accommodations and communications); registry services, and core mandate support services (for example, research and analysis, legal and other case-specific work).
- Services can be limited to one of the two (2) Categories identified as follows:
• Category 1 – English to French translation, English to French comparative editing, and French copy editing
• Category 2 – French to English translation, French to English comparative editing, and English copy editing
- For both categories, the various tasks required are presented in the likely order of importance. For example, most of the call-ups in category 1 will be for English to French translation, while most of the call-ups in category 2 will be for French to English translation.
- Translation: Create clear and accurate translations that respect the tone as well as the content of the original text, in a language appropriate to the target audience.
- Copy editing: Rework the text to improve the readability and flow, clarity, tone, and organization of the information, and verify the accuracy of content referenced, such as citations from legislation and policies.
- Comparative editing: Ensure the accuracy and correctness of a translated or pretranslated1 text by comparing it to the source language text for consistency in content, terminology, tone, style, and formatting.
- Translation: 200 to 275 words per hour
- English or French copy editing: 600 to 800 words per hour
- Comparative editing: 400 to 600 words per hour
- Regular business hours are understood to be from 8 am to 5 pm (ET), Monday to Friday.
- Most of the documents for translation, copy editing and/or comparative editing will be of quasi-judicial nature (for example, decisions and rulings), but also administrative.
- The document size can range from 250 words or fewer to over 30,000 words.
- Contract Period/Term: 1 year
