The vendor is required to provide medical services
- Hospital inpatient care:
• Provide an inpatient medical-surgical care program for the inpatients of the center
• All professional and technical services necessary for the care of the center’s patients being treated as inpatients at a general hospital.
- Hospitalist
• The hospital for the center’s inpatients requiring medical and/or surgical care will be managed by a hospitalist, employed by the hospital.
• The hospitalist will oversee the delivery of care in collaboration with the center’s attending physician about the patient’s progress.
- Hospital liaison
• Communication between the hospital and the center regarding patient information will include the use of a hospital liaison to facilitate and expedite access to the hospital’s medical and surgical services for the center’s patients.
• The hospital’s clinical information regarding patient care will be granted to the center.
• Includes the use of computer networks currently available within the hospital to access lab reports, and diagnostic studies.
- Patient room/unit
• A unit/room determined by the medical/psychiatric needs of the patient(s) a more highly specialized unit/room.
• Unit/room shall be in keeping with the therapeutic environment of the hospital’s décor.
- sitters
• Provide sitters as required by the hospital’s attending physician in conjunction with the referring unit of the center beginning at the time of admission.
• The patients are criminal procedure law (CPL), homicidal or suicidal, the center will provide the sitter coverage.
• The center provides sitter coverage, the hospital shall provide the sitter a 30-minute break per eight (8) hour shift, and access to free parking at the hospital.
• The center, represented by the director of clinical services and the medical liaison, and the hospital.
- Consultation reporting and medical records
• To ensure continuity of care, the hospital will provide psychiatric consultation to patients admitted, and subsequently hospitalized, within 24 hours of the patient’s admission.
• The patient's discharge, it's incumbent upon the hospital to provide the center a comprehensive summary of the patient's course of treatment, results of all diagnostic and laboratory studies completed during the patient's stay, and recommendations for treatment and follow-up care at the center.
• To patient discharge, hospital’s attending physician, or their designee, must contact center medical liaison, or their designee, to obtain clearance for patient to return to center.
- ambulatory/outpatient clinics
• The hospital will provide the center’s inpatients with a full range of outpatient clinic services
• The following specialty clinics will be located and provided at the center: cardiology, renal, gastro-intestinal (GI), neurology, OB GYN, and podiatry
• The clinic appointments will be pre-registered by the center’s coordinating office, with a specially designated liaison person determined by the hospital.
• If the hospital transportation is cancelled for any reason, the hospital will reimburse the center for transportation charges.
• The center provides transportation; the hospital will provide free parking at the hospital.
• Include, but is not limited to referral packet, including the consultation request form, for initial visit to each specialty clinic, and the center’s patient’s medical chart.
- Emergency service
• The hospital will provide emergency services for the center’s inpatients
• The center’s examining physician will be responsible for the following duties: complete part i of emergency room consultation form for patient to be seen at the hospital's emergency department.
• The center's nursing administrator for transportation to the hospital’s emergency department
• The hospital’s emergency department physician to discuss the reason for the referral and apprise the physician of any pertinent information.
• He hospital, arrangements will be made by the center for a psychiatric therapy aide to remain in attendance with the patient until admission to an inpatient bed
• He hospital’s electronic information system, installed at the center and the hospital.
- Rehabilitation medicine
• Rehabilitation medicine (physical therapy and occupational therapy) services will be provided by the hospital to meet the physical, rehabilitation, and health maintenance needs of the center’s inpatients.
• The hospital will provide physical therapy services using the plan of care outlined by and under the supervision of a board-certified physiatrist.
- Physician services
• The hospital will provide to the center the services of two (2) full time equivalent (FTE) board eligible or certified physicians with basic life support (bls) certification (attending physicians) with hospital privileges, specializing in either internal medicine or family practice
• The attending physician’s responsibility will include, but not be limited to completing all histories, and physicals, answering necessary or medical emergency calls to all occupants of the center and participating in med liaison meetings.
• The attending physician may order necessary tests, consults and/or treatments.
• The hospital in consultation with the center will review and update the job descriptions
• The evaluation will be collected from the center’s units served, the center’s director for clinical services, the hospital’s emergency department, medical director and specialists collaborating with the attending physician.
- Specialty physician services
• The center patients will have access to specialty physician services (such as oncology, endocrinology, pulmonology, etc.) and treatments outside of specialty clinic services provided at the center.
- dental services
• Provide a dentist and a dental technician and necessary supplies to operate the center’s dental clinic for a minimum of six (6) hours-per week
• The dentist and dental technician must be duly licensed and/or certified by department and will establish a working relationship to ensure that all dental policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
• The assigned dentist and technician will register at the nursing department's reception area upon arrival: and departure.
• The center will maintain responsibility for, and will keep records of, preventative maintenance, repair and inspection of any mechanical equipment used in providing dental services to the center’s patients.
• The hospital will maintain responsibility for providing adequate, clean stock of patient care items all dental equipment used in providing dental services to the center’s patients.
• The hospital and shall be the responsibility of the hospital dental staff, such sterilization shall be performed by the hospital dental staff at the hospital’s dental clinic performed by the hospital dental staff.
• The hospital will monitor temperature and chemical indicators of the center’s dental clinic autoclave. documentation of indicators will be provided to the center monthly.
- Radiology
• The hospital will provide for all necessary diagnostic and treatment procedures either at hospital or the center or other locations as deemed necessary
• The radiology services provided will be supervised by the hospital.
• The administrator of radiology and the medical director of radiology have overall responsibility for selecting qualified professional staff and assuring that their educational credentials and/or experience is appropriate and in accordance with state and local laws.
• Responsibility, proper functioning of equipment, scheduling of examination interpretation of results and forwarding the written results of radiology tests to the center nursing department will be required
radiology services will be performed only upon written orders of a qualified physician
• The hospital will provide an x-ray technologist with a specific radiation monitor to operate the center’s Xray equipment for a minimum of three (3) hours per week
• A record must be kept by the technologist of all supplies used during each three (3) hour period
• The usage of supplies will be verified by the center’s nursing department staff.
- Emergency laboratory services
• The hospital will provide laboratory services for the center’s inpatients on an emergency basis occurring evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Emergency laboratory tests required will be ordered by physicians. emergency laboratory specimens ordered by a physician will be obtained on the unit by the center staff, collected and immediately delivered to the hospital’s laboratory staff for processing
• All results must be telephoned back directly to the inpatient unit from which it came.
services will be based on the Medicaid rate schedule and paid via outside hospital.
- Physiological services
• The hospital will provide to the center, physiological services such as but not limited to: ECHO, EKG services, stress testing, pulmonary function test, EEG, and EMG.
• The center’s nursing department within seventy-two (72) hours
• The cost of reading and interpretation of all tests and x-ray results and repeat/reject analyses of all tests and x-rays will be the hospital’s responsibility
- Electro convulsive therapy (ECT)
• The hospital will provide ECT/anesthesia services to the center’s patients.
• Provided in accordance with the standards outlined by the american psychiatric association and current regulatory agency standards.
• The Medicaid rate schedule and paid via outside hospital.
- Speech and hearing services
• The hospital will provide onsite speech and hearing evaluations; and when necessary and provide ongoing speech therapy at the center.

- Other services provided by the hospital
• All sterilization of equipment will be done by the hospital at the hospital
• The hospital center’s clinical, medical and nursing staff access to on-site/online use of their medical library, including the use of books, professional journals, the index medicus, and the interlibrary loan system.
• The hospital security department will arrange free parking, in the hospital parking lots to be arranged by the hospital security for center staff escorting and accompanying patients to the hospital, and for center liaison personnel.
