The Vendor is required to provide for occupational medical services for on-the-job injuries and illnesses.
- Provide Occupational Medicine Services including, but not limited to the following:
• Furnish reasonable and necessary occupational medical evaluation, care, and ongoing treatment to employees who sustain on-the-job injuries or occupational diseases.
• Medical facility must be conveniently located in county and adequately staffed to perform all required services in a timely manner.
• Provide medical treatment on the same day of injury, and never later than the next business day. Schedule follow-up appointments as medically appropriate. Hours of operation should be from 7:30 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
• Review medical history to identify pre-existing medical conditions that may have contributed to the injury or illness that occurred.
• Provide clinical testing, immunizations, vaccinations and post-exposure prophylaxis as related to on the job injuries or exposures.
• Effectively communicate with risk management and third-party administrator regarding an injured employee’s diagnosis, prognosis, and duty modifications.
• Authorize employee’s return to work as soon as practical and include modifications for temporary alternate duties if necessary.
• Provide referral to board-certified medical specialists for treatment as needed and in accordance with approval from third party administrators.
• Retain proper medical files documenting all care provided to patients and provide appropriate reports to risk management and third party administrator following service.
• Give depositions and live testimony regarding medical status of county employees if requested.
• Coordinate and cooperate with risk management staff and third party administrator in the analysis and cause of accidents and injuries including suggestions regarding safety implementation.
• Provide ergonomic analyses of work environment if requested.
• Provide other related services as may be required.
• Understand the reporting standards required by the Workers’ Compensation system.
