The vendor required to provide competency-based education (CBE) consultant services for include:
1. Foundational strategy and institutional readiness
• Define and operationalize the concept of competency-based education.
• Assess our current institutional knowledge and identify additional knowledge needed and key problems to resolve.
• Assess institutional perceptions and attitudes of CBE.
• Devise strategies to promote program acceptance and institutional inclusion.
• Provide research to resolve concerns that registration will work in our traditional clock hours and credit hours model, and within workday.
2. Program design and resource planning
• Identify the resources needed at each stage of program planning, development, and implementation.
• Provide referrals to and facilitate discussions with institutions that have processes similar to our registration processes and constraints similar to ours.
• Advise on best practices for CBE implementation in alignment with commission and department of education standards.
3. Higher learning commission and dept of education application and compliance
• Interpreting applicable regulations and advising on compliance expectations.
• Helping the college anticipate and address potential challenges in areas such as financial aid,
• Credit hour definitions, regular and substantive interaction, and reporting obligations.
• Providing clear guidance on application requirements for both commission and the doe.
• Facilitating working sessions to ensure the CBE program design aligns with all commission standards.
• Participate in writing of the commission CBE application, reviewing drafts, and offering feedback to strengthen the submission
• Prepare documentation for internal review sessions prior to commission application submission
• Ensure that our program implementation will satisfy compliance requirements for pertinent institutional and external rules and regulations.
4. Welding technology
• Facilitate initial vision of how aims would like to implement CBE for welding.
• This would need to be faculty-driven.
• Identify relevant institutional actors who may need to join the development and implementation of CBE for welding technology.
