The Vendor is required to provide a broad range of government relations and lobbying services on behalf of the college before the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.
- Services include:
• Assist the college in developing and implementing its federal legislative and executive branch priorities and agenda.
• Serve as liaison on behalf of agency with members of congress and staff, and executive agency officials. Facilitate meetings with identified members, agencies, and staff, and provide appropriate follow-up on those meetings as needed. Attend and report on meetings/hearings when a college representative is unable to attend.
• Assist in preparing verbal and written communications, including congressional testimonies, that convey the college’s position on federal issues of importance and interest.
• Research, review and analyze on a continuing basis all existing and proposed federal policies, regulations, programs, and legislation, reporting timely about issues that may impact the college.
• Assist the college in identifying grant opportunities and developing and strengthening relationships with federal funding agencies.
• Assist the college in identifying and obtaining other federal funding opportunities, including congressional directed spending/community project funding and programmatic requests.
• Assist the college in identifying and developing positive relationships with interest groups, think tanks, and national associations that share the college’s interests and priorities and could help the college in achieving its federal legislative agenda.
• Help raise profile of college at the federal and national levels by facilitating opportunities for the agency board of trustees, president, vice president of government and community relations, and other college officials to testify at congressional hearings, serve on federal boards and commissions, participate in key educational summits and events, and be included or featured in stories or articles in key political media outlets.
• Develop working relationships with staff from the various higher education associations that share many of the college’s federal priorities.
