- The versions of these platforms in use today are either at or approaching the end of vendor support. As a result, the Commission must reimplement each of these systems on current, supported platforms to maintain reliability, security, vendor support, and long-term operational sustainability. The reimplementations will also provide an opportunity to modernize business processes and take advantage of newer capabilities in GIS, asset management, mobile technology, data, and analytics. Given the breadth of the systems involved, the number of business processes and integrations affected, and the organizational changes required, this will be one of the Commission’s largest and most complex technology initiatives and is expected to be a primary focus of the IT Department for several years
