RFP Description

The Vendor is required to provide to undertake a two-part project aimed at supporting sign fabrication and sign installation of wayfinding family of signs that will direct people to and help them navigate the town.
- The objectives of the two-part project are as follows:
•    Sign fabrication from the master plan
•    Sign Installation on several locations
- Provide pricing for fabrication and installation of all signs (and their foundations as needed) and graphics listed within this design development documentation package as specified.
- Substitutions based on recommendations from the sign fabricator may be acceptable, but all substitutions must be noted as such and may only be submitted along with the original specification.
- Structural Design: details on drawings indicate a design approach for sign fabrication but do not necessarily include all fabricating details required for the complete structural integrity of the signs, including consideration for static, dynamic and erection loads during handling, erecting, and service at the installed locations, nor do they necessarily consider the preferred shop practices of the individual sign fabricator.
- Therefore, it shall be the responsibility of the fabricator to perform the complete structural design of the sign and to incorporate all the reasonable safety factors necessary to protect the town, its representatives, and the designer against public liability. Designs which survive rational engineering analysis will be acceptable.
- General quality: All signs shall be finished with the highest quality and craftsmanship, installed level (or to the adjacent line of construction if not level), and be finished on front and back sides to create a finished quality look.
- Construct all work to eliminate burrs, dents, cutting edges, and sharp corners.
- Ensure that welds on exposed surfaces are imperceptible in the finished work.
- Except as indicated or directed otherwise, finish all surfaces smooth.
- Ensure that all surfaces which are intended to be flat are without dents, bulges, oil canning, gaps, or other physical deformities.
- Ensure that surfaces which are intended to be curved are smoothly free-flowing to required shapes.
- Except where approved by Designer, conceal all fasteners.
- Follow manufacturer’s recommended fabricating procedures carefully regarding expansion/ contraction, fastening, and restraining of acrylic plastic.
- Exercise care to assure that painted, polished, and plated surfaces are unblemished in finished work.
- Ease all exposed metal edges.
- Utilize all appropriate vandal resistant and safety technologies to facilitate durability and safety of the installed signs.
- Clear coat screened graphics to increase durability.
