The Vendor is required to provide two data center locations that serve all the data and applications utilized by the Authority that are hosted “in-house”.
- Historically, due to speed limitations between facilities, each data center housed portions of the servers most utilized by each location.
- Space - Enough room for needed racks, airflow, and proper cable management to avoid accidents (pull one cable, affects another)
- Co-Location: When engaging a 3rd party data center, you can either rent services (virtual machines, licensing, storage, and other resources) or floor space to put your own equipment in. For long-term (permanent residency) rental services may be a more cost-effective solution, but for a near-term (3 year) contract, using your own equipment makes it more portable to bring back in-house when ready.
