RFP Description

The vendor is required to provide a cloud-based, mobile-friendly campus portal to streamline access to services and information for students, faculty, and staff.
- The portal must fully support the following capabilities:
• Role-based access: supports custom audiences and roles, ensuring users see only the content relevant to their needs.
• Google-like search: to enable users to quickly find and launch campus resources.
• Mobile-first design: ensuring a responsive experience across smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.
• Custom branding: supports institutional branding, allowing customization of logos, colors, style, etc.
• Analytics and monitoring: Offer visualization and reports of usage patterns, and ability to tie the portal to google analytics account
• Scalable: the portal should have implementations at multiple r1 universities, and be able to support 40,000+ university at buffalo users.
• Native apps: capability to create native app for iOS and android.
• Single sign-on: utilizing using shibboleth and/or in common.
• Restful API: for both pushing and pulling information to/from the platform.
• Support of common alert protocol: for pushing emergency alerts from an external emergency management system for prominent display in the portal.
• Personalization: allow users the ability to: o Customize their views and create favorites for quicker access to desired resources.
o Ability to reorder their favorite resources.
o View a history of recently used apps and tasks, or browse the most popular and top-rated tasks to discover more.
o Provide feedback and ratings on individual tasks or the portal itself
• Backend administration system: allow authorized administrators and content providers the ability to:
o Define and setup groups and roles.
o Define targeted segments of users based on any criteria.
o Publish tasks and content and target it by role or segment.
o Define keywords for tasks and content, to improve search results.
o Arrange and categorize tasks for easy access.
o Schedule date-based announcements, banners, and tasks for any role or segmented population.
o Schedule future alerts and announcements for recurring events.
