RFP Description

The Vendor is required to provide the college’s students with access to electronic textbooks and courseware and may include printed textbooks as well.
- System include:
• The system will provide secure access for authorized users via the college’s single-sign on (SSO) and may employ multi-factor authentication.
• Authorized users will include faculty, students, and college employees who need access to the system for the performance of their duties, e.g., division chairs, administrators, administrative specialists, etc.
• The system will provide clear billing statements indicating the classes that were provisioned with textbooks and the students who had access to the textbooks.
• The system will integrate with the college’s learning management system (LMS), blackboard, such that electronic textbooks and courseware will be available via SSO or learning tools interoperability (LTI) integration.
• All textbooks and courseware will be available to students on or before the first day of class, provided that the college provided textbook and courseware information at least sixty days before the first day of class.
• The system will provide support to end users (students and faculty) that includes an option to submit email or online requests for support.
• The system will provide end users with the ability to search electronic textbooks for key words.
• The system will provide end users with the ability to download electronic textbooks for offline use.
• The system will provide end users with the ability to print limited amounts of electronic textbooks.
• The system will meet accessibility requirements under the web content accessibility guidelines level AA standard and section 508 of the rehabilitation act.
• Textbook adoptions will be recorded in the college’s student information system (PeopleSoft), and the system will use data from PeopleSoft to provision textbooks to students in their various classes.
• The college will not be required to use a proprietary textbook adoption system that the vendor may have.
• The system will upload information from PeopleSoft using secure file transfer protocol (SFTP) at least once every twenty-four hours during the month prior to the day when students begin registering for classes.
• The system will provide the college with the retail price of each book that is provided by the system.
• The system will provide support to the college’s blackboard system administrator and the instructional materials manager that includes an option for live support (telephone, zoom, teams, etc.) to resolve urgent issues.
• The system will function on computers, tablets and hand-held devices (smartphones) with windows, apple (macOS and iOS) and google (chrome and android) operating systems and be compatible and responsive within all major web-browsers on the previously mentioned devices.
