The vendor is required to provide sign language interpreters (SLIs) or other appropriate auxiliary aids and services when necessary to afford individuals with hearing disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from public services, programs, and activities.
- Provides sign language interpreting (SLI) and deaf interpreting (DI) to agency employees for a variety of meetings, trainings, and forums throughout the state.
- Provide SLI and DI services accurately and consistently in a manner understood by the majority of users, and reflective of the diversity of the deaf community.
- Interpreter(s) shall accurately reflect the voice, tone, emotion, and non-spoken message of the communication.
- Interpreter(s) shall not allow their own opinions, emotions, or experiences change the message being communicated.
- In-person SLI and DI services shall be performed at the location(s) where the employee normally conducts agency business.
- For remote SLI and DI services, respondent must be able to provide services utilizing agency approved videoconference software (currently microsoft teams and zoom for government).
