RFP Description

The vendor is required to provide special education (sped) professional services on a daily or as needed basis for students attending county.
- Positions include but are not limited to:
A) Registered behavior technician (RBT)
• A paraprofessional who practices under the ongoing supervision of a board-certified licensed behavior technician (BCBA or BCABA).
• Works under the direct supervision of county administrator in the supervision and instruction of students in a variety of settings, including the community and classroom; to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of individualized education plans or behavior intervention plans (BIPS) for students identified with behavioral needs; attend student progress meetings.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
• In addition, annual demonstration of completion and passing of registered behavior technician (RBT) certification with the behavior analysis certification board.
B) Occupational therapist:
• Provides professional services to help students overcome or compensate for deficiencies in occupational performance areas and gain optimum benefit from district special services programming.
• Evaluates referred students by assessing range of motion, muscle strength, tone and sensory systems, fine motor skills, self-help skills, oral-motor skills and visual-perceptual skills as indicated.
• BA or MA degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
• Currently licensed and eligible for licensure from the state of occupational therapist examiners.
C) Sped multi-categorical:
• To create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment for students to promote a culture of learning.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
• Prepare, administer and evaluate tests and classroom assignments following curriculum guidelines.
• Guide and counsel students with adjustment and academic difficulties, or special academic interests.
• Must have a valid state teaching or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
• If required, must be highly qualified in the content area or be able to become highly qualified within 60 days from being hired.
D) Speech language pathologist:
• To enable students to develop communication skills needed to achieve their maximum academic and social potential.
• Must have completed a program of study in speech therapy education from an accredited college or university.
• Must have a valid state teaching or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
E) Physical therapist:
• To accurately assess and provide treatment to handicapped students in an effort to reach maximum academic potential of each student.
• Ability to interact with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to maintain an accurate file for accounting purposes.
• BA or MA degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program as determined by the superintendent.
• Currently licensed and eligible for licensure from the state, licensing and regulation, board of physical therapy examiners.
