The Vendor is required to provide comprehensive athletic training services to college athletics to ensure the health, safety, and performance of all student-athletes for the duration of the athletic seasons (August-April).
- Employ certified and licensed athletic trainers (ATCS) who meet all state and national certification requirements.
- Ensure that athletic trainers are CPR/AED certified and trained in emergency response procedures.
- Designate a team physician(s) and/or orthopedic surgeon(s) to oversee medical care, communicate, and collaborate with athletic trainers.
- Maintain compliance with all NJCAA, BOC, and institutional policies regarding athlete care and safety.
- Provide comprehensive liability insurance covering all personnel assigned to college athletics.
- Athletic Training Coverage
• Assign at least one full-time athletic trainer, to work in collaboration with college head athletic trainer, with additional staffing as necessary to meet the needs of college growing athletic program during the athletic seasons.
• Provide on-site coverage for assigned home games, and high-risk sports competitions, with priority given to contact sports and as determined in collaboration with college head athletic trainer.
• Implement injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation programs for all student-athletes in collaboration with college head athletic trainer.
• Maintain detailed medical records and documentation of injuries, treatments, and return-to-play protocols in collaboration with college head athletic trainer.
- Team physician services
• Assign a licensed and board-certified physician to oversee college athletic training program.
• Assist in referrals to licensed and board-certified orthopedic surgeon(s) when necessary, after injury diagnosis.
• Provide in-person or telehealth evaluations for injured student-athletes with priority scheduling when possible.
• Collaborate with college current protocols for concussion management, injury evaluation, and return-to-play decisions.
• Work in coordination with athletic trainers, team physicians, and ems to ensure emergency action plans are sufficient and implemented for all college sports venues. - Emergency response & injury management
• Adhere to and implement emergency action plans (EAPS) for all athletic facilities and venues.
• Ensure all athletic trainers are trained in concussion protocol, spinal injury management, and sudden cardiac arrest response.
• Provide immediate on-site care for acute injuries and medical emergencies.
• Facilitate referrals to medical specialists when necessary. - Staffing & availability
• Athletic trainers must maintain consistent, reliable availability, including evenings and weekends, based on college athletics' schedules.
• Providers must have a plan for back-up coverage in the event of illness, vacations, or unexpected absences.
• Preference will be given to providers offering full-time staffing solutions, given the industry-wide shortage of athletic trainers.
