The vendor required to provide digitization for converting police microfilm records into high-quality digital formats to improve accessibility, preservation and long-term records management services.
- Requirement:
• There are approximately 760 rolls of 16 mm microfilm.
• Each roll has an average of 2,500 images of police documents.
• The digital images should be high-resolution (300+ dpi), searchable images; index metadata files corresponding to image files and a final report documenting the quality control checks.
• Scanned documents should be de-skewed, de-speckled, blank pages and black borders removed, hole punch images removed, and background color drop out (where possible). Color images must be viewable quality so that detail in the image is captured.
• The resulting digitization should be in PDF format that is saved, along with all metadata, on a USB hard drive, and two back-up USB hard drives.
• The microfilm rolls to be scanned are the back-up rolls currently stored at underground security co.
• The rolls from underground security to the vendor’s facility for scanning and digitization, as well as return of the rolls in their original condition back to underground security.
