The Vendor is required to provide substitute school nurses to support district needs when fulltime nurses are absent or when additional coverage is required.
- Substitute school nurse requirements
• Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN).
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
• Current registered nurse license recognized by the board of nursing
• Current CPR certification
• Individual contractor(s), contractor business/agencies/organizations whose employees or agents will have the opportunity to have personal unsupervised contact with students during the course of their assigned duties must be licensed or permitted through the department
• The opportunity to have personal unsupervised contact with students during the course of their assigned duties are not subject to the above requirements.
• Demonstrated proficiency with technology (electronic health records, basic office applications)
- Clinical competencies and expectations
• Provide direct care for acute illness, injury, and emotional needs
• Manage chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes care, seizure management, enteral feedings, medication administration)
• Implement physician-ordered care plans and emergency action plans
• Follow district standing orders and established first aid procedures
• Accurately document care in district-approved systems
• Recognize and respond to student health concerns in a timely manner

• Maintain a student-centered, compassionate, and culturally responsive approach
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and district personnel
• Collaborate with building staff and follow direction from the lead school nurse or designee
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
