The Vendor is required to provide registered nurses to provide direct, indirect, and evaluation services to the general student body, including special needs students attending schools.
- Clinical Nursing Duties
• Carries out routine student health screenings as required by school health manual and board policy.
• Makes appropriate referrals based on data obtained from assessment and screening procedures.
• Follows up on student health problems and may accompany agency staff on home visits as the need arises.
• Participate in student registration in order to ensure proper health records are obtained (i.e., current immunization records, medication authorization, and health histories).
• Participate in, develop, and provide required health-related services to assigned students, in accordance with students’ individual health plans (IHP), 504’s and/or agency
• Provide health related services to assigned students in accordance with state and federal regulations and within standards of professional ethics.
• Supervises, trains, and delegates appropriate health-related duties to unlicensed personnel and health assistants.
- Medication Administration & Emergency Response
• Administers medications and nursing procedures and maintains required documentation in accordance with district policy and state board of nursing regulations agency monitoring.
• Participates in school emergency preparedness planning and responds to medical emergencies in accordance with district procedures.
• Arranges for emergency transportation of students and staff as needed.
• Ensures appropriate health room coverage during school hours, including student lunchtime and recess periods.
- Student Health Services & Wellness
• Provide consultation, instruction, training, and technical assistance to staff, teachers, students, and others involved in student education regarding health related issues, including but not limited to hygiene, communicable disease prevention, puberty education, and student health needs.
• Participates in school health functions to uphold the agency wellness policy.
- Medicaid Compliance
• Completes Medicaid-related requirements including obtaining and maintaining an active NPI number, participating in Medicaid time studies, and completing billing documentation for eligible services.
