Specialized School Nursing Services

The Vendor is required to provide specialized nursing services for students who are medically fragile and/or have complex medical conditions.
- Provide to conduct a criminal background check on all employees who will be performing work on any county campus.
- Services shall include skilled nursing care and medically prescribed interventions necessary for students to safely access educational services during the school day and, when applicable, during transportation to and from school.
- Comply with all applicable school, district, state, and federal laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Nursing Code of Ethics.
- Provide skilled nursing services to medically fragile and medically complex students in accordance with physician orders, IEPs, Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), and applicable laws.
- Administer medically prescribed interventions, including but not limited to tube feeding, catheterization, respiratory care, oxygen administration, ventilator support, tracheostomy care, medication administration, seizure monitoring, and other medically necessary procedures.
- Accompany students during transportation to and from school when medically required.
- Maintain accurate daily nursing logs, medication administration records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and District policies.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents/guardians, school personnel, physicians, and related service providers regarding student health needs.
- Provide training and support to designated school personnel on medical procedures and emergency response protocols, as appropriate.
- Participate in student staffing meetings and provide input regarding health accommodations and educational access.
- Remain current on best practices, interventions, and treatment protocols related to assigned student medical conditions.
- Provide substitute nursing personnel when regular assigned personnel are absent.
- Notify the District promptly regarding staffing changes, absences, or service interruptions.
