Classroom Nursing Services

The Vendor is required to provide classroom nursing licensed registered nurses (RN) to provide health care services to students with complex health care needs within district.
- District nurses develop student healthcare plans and oversee nursing services.
- RNs are responsible for implementing the healthcare plan and providing the nursing care outlined for each student.
- Students: age 3-22.
- Health care needs: the agency nursing staff will be assisting district students with complex health care needs.
- Health care needs may include but are not limited to:
• Tracheostomies with or without ventilator dependence
• Gastrointestinal feeding tubes
• Ostomies
• Emergency seizure care and the administration of rescue medication
• Insulin dependent diabetes management
• Assessing and monitoring students in the self-contained classroom for potential health risks by:
• Implementing seizure precautions
• Providing first aid as needed
• Prevent the spread of infection
• Contacting parents and emergency services as needed
• Medication administration
• Blood glucose checks and insulin administration
• Port-a-cath/iv cares
• Assist special education teachers and aides with students accomplishing their IEP goals
• Document services completed
• Ride bus with students when medical need dictates
• Follow HIPPA standards and student medical information confidentiality
• Act as representative of district
• Other health related tasks as the need arises.
