The vendor is required to provide for a user account management system.
- This system will likely manage about 4000 users, but could add about 22,000 students in a future project.
- Employee, consultant, and other user data comes from the office via flat files (and eventually API), LDAP directories, SQL tables, and manual entry.
- Services include:
• Access groups are applied based on job descriptions, with manual exceptions made for some users (such as for short-term substitutes).
• Most account management, user lookup, and password management is handled with district-written applications.
• Destinations include an on premise Microsoft active directory, openldap, q SIS, and other systems, most via SQL updates.
• Flat file exports may also be required.
• A system for computer and helpdesk technicians to look up failures and other data is needed.
• A password reset and forgotten password system is required.
• For the forgotten password system, a secure process must be used, such as having a computer technician providing a password reset token plus security questions taken from the employee’s records.
• A TOTP token or other method could be used as long as enrollment is also included.
• Using only challenge questions provided by the end user is not acceptable.
• It is desirable to have a password strength indicator that only considers password hashes from services like HIBP plus password length.
• Password character class checking must not be required.
