The vendor is required to provide vehicle presence detection system that uses active radar technology to provide reliable detection under a wide variety of environmental and lighting conditions.
- The system will also include a visual monitoring component to allow city staff to remotely observe and verify traffic conditions in real time.
- This new system is intended to overcome the limitations of visual-only detection, particularly in challenging scenarios such as snow, fog, sun glare, and low contrast environments.
- Provide and deliver a vehicle presence detection system with the following capabilities:
• Accurate vehicle detection under all environmental and lighting conditions, including adverse weather.
• Radar-based technology that is not reliant on visual contrast.
• Live-streaming video monitoring, either integrated into the detection unit or as a separate camera component.
• Detection zones for both stop line presence and advance detection, with a preferred advance detection range of 182 meters (600 feet) or greater.
• Support for traffic data collection, such as vehicle counts, with the ability to access and download data locally, without the need for cloud-based or subscription services.
• Full compatibility with the city’s existing econolite centracs traffic control software.
• Equipment and components suitable for mounting inside a standard traffic cabinet.
• Shelf mounted preferred.
