Accessible Wayfinding Software Solution

The Vendor is required to provide to procure an accessible digital wayfinding solution that provides intuitive, inclusive navigation support across campus buildings and outdoor routes.
- The solution will help all campus users, including those with disabilities, locate classrooms, offices, services, and amenities through a digital platform that integrates with university existing systems and maps.
- Existing Tools:
•    Campus PDF maps, 
•    Google Maps listings 
•    static online building information pages
- Current Friction/Pain Points:
•    Lack of accessibility features (e.g., accessible routes, entrances, elevators).
•    Inconsistent mapping data
•    Limited integration with mobile platforms or screen readers.
•    High dependence on manual updates across multiple sites
•    Lack of active authority ensuring consistent updates
- Strengths:
•    Existing institutional GIS and ArcGIS infrastructure through university Libraries and Facilities.
•    Access to detailed building floor plans and geospatial data.
•    Cross-departmental collaboration through the Accessible Wayfinding Project Team.
- Goals and Expectations of the Project
•    Provide a comprehensive, accessible wayfinding cloud-based software solution (web and/or mobile).
•    Support inclusive navigation, including step-free routes, door locations, accessible washrooms, and elevators.
•    Ensure compatibility with Western’s existing GIS and mapping systems (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD).
•    Ensure data is securely stored and hosted in compliance with state privacy data-residency requirements.
•    Provide implementation support, training, and documentation for university stakeholders.
•    Offer flexibility for future integration with university digital platforms (e.g., Western App, website, LMS D2L Bright space).
•    Provide ongoing maintenance, updates, and customer support for the contracted period.
•    Deliver high-quality visual accuracy and user experience validated through testing and demonstrations. 
•    Demonstrate accessibility compliance (AODA, WCAG 2.1 AA or higher).
