The vendor required to provide enterprise grade backup, recovery and disaster recovery solution must support on-premises, cloud infrastructure and cloud SaaS applications.
- These environments are built predominately on microsoft and VMware vSphere platforms.
- The region’s hybrid data center environment consists of microsoft windows server 2008 to 2025, microsoft SQL server, microsoft m365 (exchange online, one drive, SharePoint online, teams), salesforce, sap ecc6, sap s4 HANA and microsoft azure infrastructure.
- Architecture and scalability
• Solution must be dynamic in nature and as such must be centric around a hybrid approach to backup and recovery operations.
• Region staff expect the proposed response to be both clear and articulate the hybrid approach defining the on-premises versus the cloud aspects of the solution.
• Solution based upon current and future expectations of the solution and may negotiate the proposed solution with the top ranked proponent in accordance with the stages of the evaluation.
• Solution should be sized to incorporate an annual data growth of twenty percent (20%) per year as a baseline.
1. On-premises data
• Approximately 700 terabytes of raw data; daily backups with 30-day retention period, monthly backups with a (1) one year retention period.
• This data includes an approximated: 450 VMware virtual machines, 50 physical windows servers and 50 microsoft SQL server instances.
2. Cloud data
• Approximately 100 terabytes of data, daily backups with 30 days retention, monthly backups with a one (1) year retention period.
• This data includes a quantity of 3,300 microsoft exchange online mailboxes in m365, 22 terabytes of microsoft OneDrive data, a quantity of 845 SharePoint online sites and 450 microsoft teams’ sites.
- Disaster recovery point and recovery time
• Provide a four-hour recovery time objective (RTO) for tier 1 systems, such as core applications as the maximum acceptable time to restore operations following a disruption
• Provide a one-day RTO for tier 2 type systems such as normal production workloads as the maximum acceptable time to restore operations following a disruption
• Provide a seven-day RTO for tier 3 type systems such as test, development and UAT workloads as the maximum acceptable time to restore operations following a disruption.
