RFP Description

The Vendor is required to provide a computer assisted coding (“CAC”) software and the included services such as technical support, maintenance, training, and implementation that meets agency needs in respect of compatibility with agency systems, infrastructure, and policies.
- The End-Users code and abstract approximately 2.9 million cases annually, including Inpatient, Emergency Department, Day Surgery, and Cardiac Catheterization encounters. The current coding model is supported by a provincial third-party coding and abstracting solution, which receives select data elements from agency Clinical Information System, Connect Care (“Epic”).
- Support Accurate and Timely Data Capture:
•    Improve the precision and completeness of coded clinical data to enhance patient care.
•    Enable robust support for funding models such as Patient Focused Funding.
•    Strengthen performance measurement and health system reporting capabilities.
- Enhance Coding Efficiency and Productivity:
•    Automate and streamline coding workflows through advanced technologies, including Natural Language Processing (“NLP”) and Artificial Intelligence (“AI”).
•    Reduce manual coding efforts and improve turnaround times for data abstraction.
- While this integration provides a foundational data flow, Clinical Coding Specialists still perform most of the data collection and abstraction manually.
- Automate and optimize coding workflows to reduce manual effort and improve turnaround times.
- Supports unidirectional and bidirectional data exchange to facilitate real-time (or near real-time) abstractions, validation and reconciliation of visit information and workflows.
- Utilizes approved Epic integration mechanisms and aligns with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, and CDA).
- Enables automated or semi-automated data transfer between Epic workflows and Solventum abstraction workflows.
- Aligns with Solventum data formats and classification standards to maintain data integrity and consistency.
- Supports error handling, validation, and feedback loops to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
- Ability to process structured and unstructured clinical documentation.
- Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
•    Real-time prompts for missing or ambiguous documentation.
•    Integration with physician workflows to support documentation enhancement.
•    Feedback loop between Data Quality and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists and clinicians.
