The Vendor is required to provide a cloud-based, vendor-hosted Digital Preservation System (DPS) that ensures compliance with best practices for trustworthy digital repositories, supports interoperability through open APIs, and provides a sustainable framework for safeguarding University’s digital assets.
- The library manages a growing body of born-digital and digitized content, including archival materials and institutional records. These assets require a secure, standards compliant environment that ensures their long-term integrity, accessibility, and authenticity.
- The goal of this project is to:
• Identify a digital preservation platform
• Migrate data from the existing platform
• Setup and launch a new Department for the university
- The platform will allow for multiple file formats to be presented utilizing the International Interoperable Image Framework (IIIF) APIs, as well as include the ability for born-digital and digitized collections to be viewed according to their intellectual and archival hierarchical arrangement.
- The platform will integrate outside vocabularies and authorities to streamline metadata work and lay the groundwork for linked data integrations. It should also include technical capabilities, such as OCR/HTR and/or AI assisted metadata, to process files ingested and create metadata.
- The platform should allow patrons to search and interact with it in the manner expected of a modern platform.
- The system needs to support a wide variety of webpages, provide the ability for the university to measure site metrics, and enable content to be harvested by university-endorsed entities.
- The Web Services team needs the ability to sandbox or preview the environment for testing customizations before publishing.
- The system should provide a robust interface that allows Web Services to upload custom CSS, HTML, or JavaScript.
- These collection-level landing pages contain a description of the collection, its provenance, and the types of materials included in the collection. We require the ability to have landing pages for each collection.
- Web Services would like the system to allow for multiple files to be uploaded and version control for uploaded CSS, HTML, or JavaScript.
- We need a system that ensures compliance with field settings and controlled vocabularies prior to any uploading. We also need clear communication on where errors occur so that staff can fix the problem.
- The ability to manage collection settings as some projects and collections will have unique needs that will differ from others.
