The Vendor is required to provide voluntary Statewide Demand Response (DR) and other curtailment services.
- These programs are designed to balance supply and demand on the electrical grid, reduce price volatility, mitigate generation market power, and enhance reliability. By participating, State Agencies can lower or shift their electricity usage during peak periods, receiving agency in return. This participation helps alleviate stress on the electric grid and may lead to reduced electricity prices.
- Identify Eligible Facilities: The Contractor must first identify facilities that have the necessary equipment and infrastructure to participate in demand response (DR) events.
- Outreach and Communication: The Contractor must contact facility owners and explain the benefits and requirements of participating in DR and curtailment services.
- Assessment of Readiness: The Contractor must conduct assessments to ensure that the facilities have the required technology and operational capacity to engage in DR events.
- Enrollment Process: The Contractor must facilitate the enrollment process by providing necessary documentation and guidance to facility owners, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities. The Contractor must guide facilities that enroll to ensure they have the necessary equipment and infrastructure in place.
- Regular Meetings: The Contractor must schedule regular meetings with facility owners to discuss current participation levels and any changes in capacity or operational readiness.
- Assessment of Capacity: The Contractor must evaluate each facility’s ability to contribute to demand reduction efforts, identifying any obstacles to increased participation.
- Data Analysis: The Contractor must analyze historical performance data and current operational metrics to evaluate how well each facility is participating in DR events.
- Feedback Mechanism: The Contractor must establish a feedback loop where facility owners can express concerns or suggest improvements regarding their participation.
