Dielectric Profiling System Tool

The Vendor is required to provide to purchase a system capable of performing continuous dielectric profiling of asphalt pavements for density and compaction uniformity evaluation.
- The system will be operated by County personnel as a Quality Assurance (QA) support tool to collect pavement dielectric measurements and identify areas of potential non-uniform compaction to support construction oversight and pavement investigations.
- System Requirements
• Provide continuous, non-destructive dielectric measurement of asphalt pavements suitable for evaluating density or compaction variability
• Utilize technology capable of measuring pavement dielectric properties that correlate with asphalt density, air voids, or compaction uniformity
• The system shall support project-specific dynamic calibration of dielectric measurements using ground-truth data, including asphalt cores and/or in-place density testing, to account for variations in asphalt mix design, aggregate type, moisture conditions, and pavement age.
• The system must be capable of field data collection and analysis on asphalt pavements during or after construction operations.
• Operate without the use of radioactive materials or nuclear sources
- Functional Capabilities
• Collection of continuous dielectric measurements across asphalt pavement surfaces
• Identification of areas of potential non-uniform compaction or density variation
• Support evaluation of pavement uniformity along the roadway surface
• Real-time collection, storage, and visualization of pavement dielectric measurement data during or after data collection
• Display collected pavement dielectric data, including graphical or mapped representations suitable for identifying variations or anomalies
• Export data in commonly used digital formats suitable for further analysis, such as Comma-Separated Values (CSV) or equivalent
• A method for correlating dielectric measurements with asphalt density or air void characteristics, including calibration procedures or equipment and the ability to support correlation with laboratory or field test results
