The Vendor is required to provide intercom system solution for two-way communication between individual classrooms and administration and office staff via a dedicated answering station and from administration desk phones, single and multi-zone paging for announcements and bells, custom configuration of bell schedules, clocks with textual displays, and the ability to integrate with third-party devices without limitations to the third party’s hardware and software.
- Equipment
• Equipment is subject to change as new and updated equipment becomes available.
• District te4chnology will provide a visual console computer.
• New construction will have 70v paging amplifiers.
• The following equipment is required for school locations:
o E-sip
o All-in-one alert display for all classrooms
o E-SBM for mobile classrooms
o EMH
o Media player/Bluetooth media receiver
o (2) e300 console phone
o (1) dedicated e300 phone for visual console
o Switches for data rack for an isolated fiber network
o Ups battery backup on all 120v control circuit
o E-365 clocks
o Call-in buttons with DND (ecs-2) button function
o Thunder eagle we1 10/we120 weather radio
o All other equipment needed to make the system function is to be determined by the installer.
- Cabling and networking
1. Installation
• Plenum-rated wire must be used.
• Wire/cable is to be ran in “j” hooks, cabling tray, or beam clamps.
• On new construction, any cabling or wiring running in between the wall for call buttons must be in conduit.
o At least 6” stub-up above the top of the wall
o Must have plastic sleeves to protect wire at top of stub out
• On retrofits, use any existing raceways in the walls to supply wire to call buttons.
• Retrofit jobs must have all unused/old wires removed.
• New construction must have standardized able lengths for typical classroom setups.
• Provide conduits where cables penetrate firewalls above ceilings.
• If penetrating a firewall, caulk any openings to maintain the integrity of the walls.
• All EMT entering boxes must be served with insulating throat connectors and locknuts.
• All 120v electrical conductors must be installed in conduit.
• On new construction, install wire in specified spots in hallways.
2. Network
• The system must be configured to a dedicated V-Lan provided by district technology department.
• Each sub-sector of the intercom system must be on a dedicated fiber network.
• On retrofits, network switches are to be provided by the district technology department.
- Setup
1. Configurations
• Each room must have a push-to-call button with an embedded DND option.
• The common and hallway speakers must be separated by each hall or area which will allow bells in particular locations to be shut off during testing or performances.
• Administration and administration hallway speakers must have their own volume control.
• This can be digital.
• E-sip, EMH, and weather radio must be in a dedicated rack in the MDF.
• Media players/Bluetooth receivers will be installed in the closest IDF to the main office.
2. IP phones
• Connection in the county’s IP phones will be coordinated through the district technology department.
• Extensions to page and call will be provided by the district technology department.
3. EHM
• EHM access with default passwords to the following:
o Administration offices
o Maintenance building
o School locations
• District schools will provide the awarded proposer an event schedule for each location.
4. E-console
• DND enable and dis-enable function
• Map of the school with room numbers
• Floor plan maps will be provided by district
• Multiple/zoomed-in views to be used when the overall floor plan is too small to see the room numbers
• Color-coded areas must be defined for easy identification.
