EMS Billing Services

The Vendor is required to provide to administer the task of processing, invoicing and collecting costs, including collections for past due invoices for emergency medical services (EMS) patients on behalf of the City.
- Provide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) billing and collection services.
- provide all services necessary to receive and process patient billing and collections. In the event the incumbent is not awarded the contract all data migration from the incumbent to the Successful Vendor’s billing system
- Provide all labor, materials and technology to obtain missing patient information from all available sources prior to issuing insurance claims or direct patient billing.
- Provide and administer a compliance program to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
- Provide a Customer Service Representative to assist patients and/or other third-party payers in all billing inquiries in a timely fashion as specified herein.
- Provide the City’s Department of Finance with all monthly finance, billing and receivable reports
- Provide follow up billing upon receipt of “new” information received concerning a patient. This includes, but is not limited to, change of address, change of responsible party, or additional insurance information.
- Electronically file insurance claims, and mail direct patient billing upon verification of run ticket information no later than two (2) business days after receipt of run ticket.
- Provide the City with regular updates and ongoing training on any changes to billing requirements arising from updates in industry standards, payer policies, or applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
- Conduct annual training sessions for City staff focused on clinical documentation, billing compliance, and industry best practices to ensure adherence to current requirements and promote continuous improvement in compliance performance.
