The Vendor is required to provide claims adjustment services for include:
• Provide all necessary labor, equipment and materials to perform public entity claims adjustment services for no-fault utility claims for property damage arising from water main breaks and sewer backups; and vehicle accidents and bodily injury claims.
• Provide a local office within salt lake county and accept claim assignments by telephone, e-mail, and mail Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. except city holidays.
• Claims adjustment services
o Provide claims adjusting services for the city, providing all materials and services necessary for the investigation, adjustment, acceptance or denial of claims in accordance with provisions of applicable law.
o Provide recommended settlement value directly to city.
o Upon assignment of a claim, contractor shall contact claimant or claimant’s attorney by telephone or in person within twenty-four (24) hours of assignment.
o If contact cannot be made, contractor shall immediately send a letter to inform the claimant of the file assignment and to request a return call.
o Obtain recorded or written statements of claimants and witnesses, as indicated; and shall obtain records from the claimants, police, attorneys, and insurance carriers as needed for determination of negligence and to ensure claims are resolved timely, efficiently and fairly.
o Report all injury claims to the index bureau and have them re-indexed every six months while the claim remains open.
• Damage appraisals
o As assigned, contractor shall perform third-party property damage appraisals.
• All appraisals must be performed with objectivity and independently, without bias, ensuring evaluations are not determined by personal interest.
• Contractor will not advocate for any party.
• Any compensation shall not be contingent upon a predetermined appraisal.
• If there is a conflict of interest, contractor shall disclose any past or present interest in the subject property within twenty-four (24) hours of the assignment.
