The Vendor is required to provide for comprehensive liability claims administration services managing the administrative processes related to liability claims made against the city and the board of education.
- This will include claims handling, investigation, and communication, reporting, and related services to ensure timely and accurate resolution of claims.
- Claims process:
• Ensure that all claims are acknowledged within 24 hours of receipt.
• Conduct thorough investigations of claims, including reviewing incident reports and gathering witness statements.
• Engage in effective communication with claimants, city officials, and legal counsel, providing updates throughout the claims process.
• Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, including the state general statutes and the fair claims practices act.
- Requirements
1. Claims administration:
• The city has an effective reporting mechanism in which the corporation counsel reports claims directly to the TPA.
• The TPA will be responsible for setting up claims, making investigations requested by corporation counsel, maintaining appropriate reserves, informing and managing excess insurance carriers, and conducting other work requested by corporation counsel.
2. Loss analysis and claims reporting:
• The city requires access to an online TPA database and claims management system for all open and closed claims.
• The ability to download data is also required.
3. Prior TPA claims:
• TPA will assume full responsibility for all existing open claims, and administer these claims on an ongoing basis, and administer all new claims reported on and after the effective date of services.
