Workers' Compensation Services

The Vendor is required to provide workers’ compensation plan in which there are currently established safety programs of varying degrees among plan participants providing educational opportunities and training.
- Requirement:
• Develop, administer, and review written safety plans, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with PESH, OSHA, and any other state or federal safety regulations and to ensure that employees are aware of current regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all mandated employee training, recordkeeping and reporting.
• Prepare for and accompany inspectors from regulatory agencies and insurance companies.
• Evaluate department operations for equipment and materials used, develop and review written safety procedures where needed.
• Investigate accidents involving motor vehicles.
• Investigate all safety and health complaints and grievances for potential health and safety violations and recommend remedial action.
• Investigate all safety incidents and determine whether corrective action is needed to prevent recurrence; report findings to the safety committee and monitor corrective action taken.

• Develop and communicate safety plans.
• Perform regular, routine inspections of facilities and job sites to determine if any potentially hazardous conditions or work practices exist.
• Inspect and investigate accidents and accident sites to determine causes and arrive at a means to prevent similar accidents from recurring.
• Establish and maintain a central file system which includes departmental reports of identified hazards and progress toward corrective action, a list of hazardous chemicals (safety data sheets) used by various county departments, loss control information and reports, and other information as appropriate to capture loss statistics for use in program development.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills at each county location and evaluate emergency procedures in place.
• Review legislation, rules and regulations affecting safety and health standards that govern public and employee safety and facility protection and advice on the need for modifications.
• Guidance to plan participants regarding safety programs including but not limited to ergonomics, hearing conservation and personal protective equipment.
• Technical advice to loss control questions.
• Coordinate and attend county safety committee meetings.
• Review workers’ compensation and insurance loss data to determine if incident trends exist and address those trends in a manner appropriate to reduce exposure to injuries or property damage.
• Research availability of and apply for grants for safety related projects.
