Volunteer Transportation Services

The Vendor is required to provide to secure the services of a qualified Firm to administer and operate a senior transportation program that provides safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation to eligible senior citizens aged sixty (60) and older.
- Develop a job description specifying the responsibilities of volunteer drivers, and the minimum qualifications for the position.
- Ensure that volunteers possess a current, valid, and clean State driver’s license and that their vehicles are insured.
- Background check (such as intelli corp or the like) on all potential volunteers and procure a driver’s abstract as part of their orientation to the program.
- Violation may result in immediate dismissal.
- Keep personal information relating to the individuals who apply for and receive the transportation service under the Program confidential.
- Responsible for scheduling transportation between the drivers and Clients and may utilize volunteers to assist with scheduling.
- Reimbursed for mileage from their home to the senior’s home, to the identified destination(s), back to the seniors’ home, and then to the volunteer’s home.
- Publish and make available written procedures for addressing driver problems, complaints, or situations, and shall distribute them to all volunteers and seniors participating in the program.
- Volunteers shall drive their personal vehicles to provide transportation. 
- Personal vehicles must be properly licensed, registered, insured, and maintained. 
- All volunteers must have current agency registration and inspection stickers displayed on their vehicles at all times.
- In the case of inclement weather, the Firm shall determine whether volunteers should refrain from driving and make such determination upon considering the best interests of the volunteers, the Clients, and the general public.
- Responsible for the continuous recruitment of volunteers who must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
