The Vendor is required to provide specialized transportation services for students with and without disabilities, including transportation of an approved parent or guardian when authorized.
- Services shall include:
• Curb-to-curb transportation between designated locations (“point a” to “point b”)
• Transportation may be provided by using sedans, minivans, or similar vehicles (rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft are not permitted)
• Transportation for students and, when authorized, accompanying parents or guardians
• Services seven (7) days per week, including weekends, as needed
• Coverage hours generally between 5:45 am and 12:00 am, unless otherwise directed
• Both in-district and out-of-district transportation
• Include ADA-accessible vehicles (as required), including lifts and ramps and securement systems
• Allow transport of mobility aids and service animals
- Scheduling and coordination:
• All transportation requests must be scheduled and authorized by the transportation office
• The contractor shall not accept or schedule trips without prior district approval.
• Standard notice for new trips will be approximately two (2) days, though urgent requests may occur.
• The department will provide written notices (email is an acceptable form of notification).
• The district reserves the right to adjust routes, schedules, and assignments for efficiency.
• The contractor shall have 24-hour reservation and scheduling or message service, unless established emailing practices are approved
- Performance standards:
• Drivers must wait a minimum of 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup time before departing and must notify the district of no-shows.
• All passengers must be properly secured in accordance with federal and state safety regulations.
• Maximum ride time: 60 minutes per one-way trip (unless otherwise approved by the district’s designee)
• On-time performance:
o 95% of trips within ±2 minutes
o 100% within ±5 minutes
- Driver requirements – all drivers must:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid state driver’s license
• Have acceptable motor vehicle record that includes:
o No dui convictions
o No more than 6 points
o No more than 2 at-fault accidents within 3 years
• Have minimum 2 years’ experience working with special needs populations
• Pass and maintain:
o Criminal background checks (state and federal)
o Sex offender registry check
o Child abuse registry check
o Drug and alcohol testing.
