The vendor is required to provide that as needed Spanish to English and English to Spanish written translation services, as well as Spanish to Spanish proofing and copy-editing services for the state.
- Translation services specifications:
• General information:
o Translations provided to the agency must be original. translators will read and understand the entire body of the text and will research any unfamiliar terms, phrases, program titles, or subject matter in order to render an accurate, correct translation
o The process of translation includes:
- Reading and understanding the source document;
- The initial translation, proofreading, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, idiomatic expression, and quality review by a second translator;
- Communication with the agency contract monitor for any complex content related questions;
- The consideration, acceptance, and/or rejection of any suggestions made regarding the translation by agency and/or a second, independent translation reviewer to whom the agency may send the contractor’s initial translation; and
- The resolution of any differences between the original translation and the reviewer’s suggestions, resulting in a final approved version of the translation.
o Translators will also proof and copy-edit documents, as requested by the agency contract monitor. The process of proofing and copyediting includes:
- Reading and understanding the source document;
- Initial copy-edit, proofread and quality review for clarity, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and idiomatic expression;
- The consideration of any suggestions made to correct or improve the work document by agency and/or a second, independent editing reviewer to whom the agency may send the contractor’s initial copy-edit; and
- Communication with the agency to resolve any differences between the contractor’s work and the reviewer’s suggestions, resulting in a final version of the work document.
o The agency will not pay a per-service minimum charge or project management/desktop publishing charges.
o The contractor will process invoices on a monthly basis.
o The contractor must have translator(s) available throughout the contract term to provide services as stated.
