The Vendor is required to provide the volunteer coordinator works to recruit volunteers, develop and maintain projects and activities to engage the offender population supervised by the office.
- Provide a volunteer service that will address recruitment, orientation training, monitoring and implementation of volunteer activities to meet offender needs.
- Citizens will be recruited and trained to provide as wide a range of services as possible.
- actively liaise between the different organizations to establish and maintain projects, which focus on strengthening community resources for offenders on conditional release such as in-reach programs, wellness activities, job search, securing identification and transportation.
- The Volunteer Coordinator will maintain a record of activities and results for reporting purposes, which provides details on numbers of volunteers, hours spent by each volunteer, and hours spent by the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Conduct information sessions with a broad range of agencies, organizations, officials and educational facilities within the area as a means of informing them about volunteer opportunities in community corrections that are available for individuals.
- Conduct presentations and information sessions.
- Interview potential volunteers.
- Establish a broad recruitment base, including Indigenous communities, local service groups, chaplaincy and faith communities, universities, colleges and volunteer centres.
- Facilitate availability of volunteers to federal offenders placed at local Community Residential Facilities.
- Liaise with Community Residential Facilities to organize volunteer-led activities.
- Actively develop contacts with agencies, including mental health service providers, faith communities and ethno-cultural societies, where these agencies can provide service and support to the offender.
- Actively recruit volunteers with second languages; maintain a record for use in identifying volunteers with various linguistic profiles.
- Screen appropriate volunteers for one-to-one or group contact; and assign to specific projects.
- Identify and arrange, in cooperation with the Manager of Programs, Parole Officer Supervisors and Mental Health Team, necessary ongoing training for volunteers.
