The vendor is required to provide to redesign the city’s website.
- Update our website with relevant design, a user-friendly navigation experience, and some of the latest website best practices, including mobile-first optimization and important accessibility guidelines.
- Engagement and communication
• Alerts – prominently display alerts on the website
• Notifications – send email notifications to subscribers
• Events calendar – display community events and city meetings
• News – publish news articles and press releases to the homepage of the website
• Feedback – links to provide feedback via email on every webpage
- Content management
• A document library to upload or manage documents displayed on the website
• An image library to upload or manage assets displayed on the website
• Forms and surveys for customer responses that include survey logic and email notifications following form completion. Forms and surveys must include the ability for the survey respondent to upload pdfs, image files, and other file types. Please indicate which file types and limits are accepted.
• List and display RFPS or bids for city business efficiently
• Reporting functionality, such as a report of edited content, broken links, or other website management functions
• The ability to make short or redirect URLS. Ex: wauwatosa.net/fire. If this ability is limited, please include the number of possible short or redirect URLS.
• Permission levels for staff to update, manage, or access content based on roles
- Features, design, and accessibility
• Ability to embed:
○ Third-party accessibility tool
○ Third-party calendar software (library events and room reservation system)
○ Third-party search tool related to waste disposal (waste wizard)
○ The city’s meeting portal
○ The city’s customer service and financing portals
○ Videos
○ Social media feeds
○ GIS maps
• A designated search tool for residents to learn their elected official based on property address. (We’ve built this tool already, and it’s in an iframe.)
• Website search function
• Mobile device-friendly design, with particular attention to the homepage
• Design options for city department landing pages or future website refreshes
○ The design for department landing pages should be similar, with the ability to customize slightly without losing the integrity of a unified look on the website
○ Design options might include accordions, photo galleries, pull quotes, or other design features
• Website development must meet the department web content accessibility guidelines 2.1 level AA. Learn more.
• Manage the library’s content through the same management system, but as a separate domain
• Display the contact information of staff through a staff directory.
