The vendor is required to provide to multiple levels of design complexity, identification and classification of locations for signage, construction drawings for each signage type, and a phasing plan for implementation.
- Provide all the necessary resources and professional services for the design, planning, and implementation oversight of a graphically unified entry point identifier, directional and contextual signage program across a range of signage mediums
1. The signage program:
• Is intended to serve as an identifier for city, ensuring the city’s entry points are identified with a cohesive brand for residents and guests;
• Must be flexible in order to accommodate future changes in and additions to the city entry points, traffic flows and destinations; and,
• Include consideration of city’s established digital reader boards and monument signs for city-owned buildings and parks.
- The signage strategy shall establish an approach incorporating the following tasks and topics:
• Definition of specific signage system goals and objectives
• Identification of neighborhood thoroughfares, primary routes, major areas, points of interest and destinations (cultural, business, shopping, education, parking, recreation, neighborhood, etc.)
• Identification of the types of signage that will best serve the city’s needs
• Development of criteria for destination inclusion and signage grouping and hierarchy
• Development of recommended route plan for primary access to all major destinations to determine optimal placement of signs
• Design all signage to be recognizable and readily visible
• Design the signage program to be phased in implementation, with product longevity and ease of maintenance in mind
• Develop a list of property ownership of proposed signage locations for city easement or acquisition
• Provide detailed drawings and construction documents of each signage type, upon city approval of the design 2. Design
- The unified family of signs within the signage program will encompass the following categories and will be capable of coordination with other signage and graphic needs as they arise:
• Primary, secondary and/or auxiliary welcome, thoroughfare and gateway signs
• Directional and destination signs – these signs include information directing visitors to landmarks, destinations, facilities, and services, including, but not limited to:
a. City Hall
b. Schools
c. Parks
d. Historical markers
• Building identifier signs
- Design information shall include:
• Graphic layout
• Signage text
• Fonts
• Size and dimensions
• Suggested material options
• Base and mounting options
• Placement within the city
3. Implementation
• A budget, based on approved design specifications and total number of signs proposed
• Overall map, to include all recommended sign locations and type
• Installation plan, to include timing and phasing, based on cost and order of priority of signage elements
• Suggested criteria for selecting a qualified bidder for sign fabrication and installation
• Plans and protocols for future signage expansion and modification options, as needed, in response to changes in the community and its amenities.
