Community Engagement and Recruitment Services

Community engagement and recruitment services will assist the Sheriff’s Office in strengthening community relationships, improving communication and transparency, supporting public safety engagement, and developing and implementing effective employee recruitment strategies.
- Community Engagement and Public Safety Outreach
• Engage with community groups and stakeholders to identify current crime, public safety, and quality-of-life concerns and recommend appropriate engagement strategies.
• Develop and coordinate community-facing information concerning events, programs, initiatives, public information, and other Sheriff’s Office activities.
• Provide insight and recommendations concerning law-enforcement and safety concerns, community relations, policy review and development, and training topics, as requested by the Sheriff’s Office.
• Support open dialogue and transparency concerning Sheriff’s Office policies, procedures, operations, initiatives, and training.
• Attend community-based meetings, public events, special engagements, and other outreach activities on behalf of or with the Sheriff’s Office, as authorized.
• Develop a current understanding of relevant crime and community concerns and assist stakeholders and the Sheriff’s Office in identifying practical strategies to address those concerns.
• Coordinate with appropriate Sheriff’s Office staff and leadership concerning public-safety issues identified through outreach activities.
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with community leaders, governmental partners, lawenforcement partners, elected officials, service organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Recruitment Strategy and Outreach
• Assess current and anticipated hiring and recruitment needs in coordination with Sheriff’s Office leadership.
• Develop and implement recruitment strategies designed to attract qualified and diverse applicant pools consistent with applicable law and County policy.
• Identify and use appropriate recruitment channels, including online employment forums, social media, community organizations, educational institutions, career fairs, and other outreach methods.
• Attend career fairs and recruitment events and conduct targeted outreach to enhance recruitment efforts.
• Recommend messaging, outreach materials, recruitment campaigns, and candidate-engagement strategies.
• Track recruitment activities and, where practicable, measure results such as inquiries, event contacts, applications, referral sources, and other agreed-upon performance indicators.
- Communications and Reporting
• Prepare clear written materials, presentations, outreach content, meeting summaries, recommendations, and reports.
• Maintain documentation of community engagement and recruitment activities.
• Provide periodic written status reports identifying work performed, emerging issues, recommendations, recruitment activity, and planned next steps.
• Meet with the Sheriff and/or designated County staff at an agreed-upon frequency to review progress, priorities, and upcoming activities.
