The Vendor is required to provide health and medicare advocacy and information (HMAI) services to county residents.
- Must provide enhanced outreach to eligible Medicare beneficiaries regarding their preventive, wellness, and limited income benefits; application assistance to individuals who may be eligible for Low-income Subsidy (LIS)/Extra Help or Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs); and outreach activities aimed at preventing disease and promoting wellness.
- Programs must utilize the views of participants when evaluating the effectiveness of services received.
- All contractors must have a written Emergency Operations Plan that can be activated in an emergency.
- The plan shall include 1) preparation of the facility, 2) training for all staff, volunteers, and participants in the agency’s emergency operations plan, and 3) fire safety preparations.
- Conduct recruitment, training, coordination, and registration of health insurance counselors, including a large contingent of volunteer counselors, Long-Term Care Counselors, and Long-Term Care Community Educators, designed to expand services.
- Ensure that public telephone access is available during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the event clients cannot receive personal assistance immediately, they must be offered an opportunity to leave their name, a message, and return telephone number with an answering service or on an answering machine. Calls from clients leaving messages must be returned within two (2) business days received.
- Provide a community education campaign designed to inform the public about Medicare, Medicare supplement, and long-term care insurance options, Medicare Advantage plans, related managed health care plans, and insurance topics.
