The vendor is required to provide employee physicals and medical monitoring services for delivering comprehensive physical examinations, along with related testing and evaluation services.
- Comprehensive physical examinations, testing, and evaluation services for the following groups:
• Department academy peace officer applicants – approximately 175 applicants per year
• Department incumbent law enforcement officers – all sworn officers (approximately 650 per year)
• Department employees – approximately 600 employees required by department health and safety programs to participate in preliminary and ongoing medical surveillance.
- Required services
• Physical examinations: must be conducted by a provider who is licensed in the state and board certified.
• Visual acuity examination
• Color perception examination: testing must use recognized methods to identify extreme anomalous trichromatic, dichromatic, or monochromatic color vision.
• Prostate examination (department only): available upon request for male candidates, applicants, and incumbent officers
• Pap smear examination (department only): available upon request for female candidates, applicants, and incumbent officers.
• Treadmill stress testing (department incumbent officers only):
o Age 50 and older: officers age 50+ who request a stress test shall receive it as part of their annual physical.
o Age 49 and below: officers may receive a stress test if: recommended by the physician based on exam results or risk factors; or
o They have a calculated annual risk greater than 2% for a coronary heart disease event.
• Laboratory specimen testing (department):
o Chemical urinalysis – new applicants only
o Sickle cell disease – new applicants only
o Phlebotomy
o Comprehensive metabolic panel
o Complete blood count (CBC) with differential
o Lipid panel
• Optional laboratory testing (department incumbent officers only): PSA screening (go103)
o Age 50 and older: annually
o Age 40-49: every other year
• Laboratory specimen testing (department)
o Urinalysis (multiple-exposure panel test), including but not limited to:
1. Lead (urinalysis with micro)
2. Methylenedianiline
3. Benzene
4. Cadmium (with beta2 microglobulin in urine)
5. Coke oven emissions (cytology, urinalysis for sugar, albumin, hematuria)
o Phlebotomy, including but not limited to:
1. Lead
2. Methylenedianiline
3. Benzene
4. Cadmium
• Comprehensive metabolic panel
• Complete blood count (CBC) with differential
• ZPP (zinc protoporphyrin)
• Bun (blood urea nitrogen)
• Coke oven emissions.
