The vendor is required to provide integrated pest management (IPM) services on an as-needed basis for the campus.
- Provide site-specific recommendations for structural and procedural modifications to achieve pest suppression in locations to be identified by the college.
- Provide and execute the following tasks as part of the IPM:
- Treatment program
• Develop a monitoring and inspection program to identify the source of infestations;
• Provide, install, and periodically inspect all monitoring devices and bait stations used in this contract, and provide the buildings and grounds department a listing and map of the placement locations, along with date of placement and name of operator placing the equipment;
• Obtain all requisite permits and approvals for application of any pesticides; all fees associated with these requirements are to be borne solely by the contractor.
- Rodent control:
• Place closed tamper-resistant design rodent bait stations in a particular area in accordance with industry standards if monitoring indicates the presence of rodents in that specific area or if directed by college personnel;
• Rodent bait stations shall be formed of either metal or plastic and watertight if liquid bait rodenticides are used.
• All rodent bait stations will have service record labels affixed to each station and containing the following information:
1. Type or brand of baits used, date bait station was last serviced or checked by the pest control operator and pest control operators initial);
• Snap trap devices (including glue or sticky boards) can be used as part of rodent/insect control, if mutually agreed-upon by the contractor and college, and must be checked each time the pest control operator visits.
1. Contractor shall be responsible for disposal of the vermin trapped on the equipment at the next scheduled visit;
2. Traps shall generally be placed outside of general view, so they do not affect routine cleaning procedures; circumstances that necessitate placement in public-facing areas are to be discussed and agreed upon by college personnel.
• Contractor shall apply an effective deodorizing agent approved by the office of environmental health and safety, at no additional cost to the college, in the event that offensive odors are present as a result of dead or decaying rodents.
• All rodenticide, regardless of packaging, shall not be placed in locations accessible to children, pets, wildlife, and domestic animals.
• Contractor must provide to the building and grounds department written identification and particulars for the eradication of any insect, animal or pest entrusted to the contractor within two (2) business days.
- Roach control – Contractor shall treat indicated spaces with agency approved roach gel baits, insecticide applied to cracks and crevices or vacuuming in sensitive areas, along with roach monitors; if a heavy infestation is found, a low odor liquid insecticide may be used; other rooms will be serviced upon request if an infestation is found.
- Mosquito control – Contractor shall treat breeding areas with agency approved parricides.
- Contractor must provide extermination services for all other common pests, including bees, wasps, insects, and termites as directed by the college at no additional charge; the contractor shall identify access points, clean out debris, sanitize infected areas, implement pest control procedures, and trap any pests on-site.
- Any wildlife trapping (including but not limited to activities such as assembly, placement, baiting, inspection, and monitoring), if required, shall be provided at the contractor’s hourly rate, plus material costs; removal of the wildlife is permitted to be billed at a separate rate.
- Space treatments
• Space treatments that require use of a pesticide fogger, aerosol spraying, or any ULV (ultra-low volume) will be restricted to circumstances for which no suitable alternative is practical, and only upon approval by the college buildings and grounds department.
• If an interior space treatment requires application of sprays or aerosols, the contractor shall submit a written request for approval to the buildings and grounds department, subject to review and approval by the college environmental health and safety office.
- The request must include, at a minimum, the following:
• Pests/vermin targeted;
• Time and location of treatment;
• Method of application;
• Pesticides to be applied;
• Precautions taken to ensure containment of spray to site.
• The contractor shall not use solutions, compounds, mixtures, or formulations of banned poisons, as published by the state’s environmental protection agency’s suspended, cancelled, and restricted pesticides list; the contractor shall, at all times, comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding pesticide use and application.
• Frequency of service
1. Services will be ordered on an as-needed basis, however, the college anticipates scheduling routine weekly service calls with the contractor; each week, the college will provide the contractor with the location(s) requiring service for the following week and the dates and times that the contractor will have access to the location(s).
- Protect human health by minimizing pest-related risks.
- Preserve the integrity of campus buildings and facilities.
- Reduce environmental impact by using sustainable and non-toxic methods.
- Support campus wildlife and biodiversity, avoiding harm to beneficial species.
- Comply with local, state, and federal pest management regulations.
- Prevention: Proactively reduce conditions that attract pests.
- Monitoring: Continuously observe pest activity and environmental conditions.
- Control: Apply the least harmful, targeted pest control methods.
- Evaluation: Regularly assess the effectiveness of pest management actions and adjust as needed.
