The vendor is required to provide consulting services for the design, construction and final commissioning of the new city wellington paramedic services (GWPS) paramedic station at 218 in city.
- Public address and other data-based systems
• In consultation with the city of and with the authority having jurisdiction, the architect will establish a design strategy as required.
• The architect will include the station’s emergency communication system design and consultation.
• The systems will include but not be limited to:
o Phone and data system complete with data equipment.
o Public address and intercom system.
o Interlocking with phone system.
o Universal clock system
o “Red phone” system
• The above systems must be supported with an emergency power system, i.e., a generator.
• All provisions must be kept for integrating the above systems, including monitoring equipment installed by the monitoring company.
- Emergency backup generator/heating
• The building will be required to have a 100% power backup diesel or natural gas generator.
• The exterior packaged generator unit is complete with weather and sound attenuated enclosure, and all required M&E is to house the specified generator.
- Natural gas
• The only exception to completely eliminating fossil fuels for building power may be a natural gas-powered emergency power generator and/or backup heating if required.
- Security and life safety systems
• Establish and develop a detailed design for the site’s security, access, and life safety system.
• These systems will be installed as part of the general contract and shall be compatible with similar systems in the existing facilities.
• The system shall include the following features:
o C.C.T.V (including audio for evidentiary purposes)
o Access control to the building, secure rooms and vehicle gates
o Roadways and parking monitoring
o Physical barriers (fencing and gates) and landscaping
o Fire safety plan - the architect’s scope includes 11 x 17 life safety drawings showing all life safety equipment, including fire alarm devices.
o Security panic alarm system
o Administrative office and staff area
• The building must accommodate a minimum of 10-12 staff working at any one time.
• The following elements shall be incorporated into the design of the administrative and staff areas:
o Enclosed vestibule
o Report writing room
o Lounge area
o Kitchen and lunchroom
o Washrooms and decontamination
o Wellness room
o Staff lockers and locker areas
o Medical storage room
o Secure medical storage room
o Mechanical and electrical utility rooms
o Janitorial room
o Communications room
o Outside patio and staff area.
