The Vendor is required to provide of interpreter training for its multilingual and bilingual staff members to ensure that the county’s Non-English speaking, limited English proficiency (LEP), deaf and hard of hearing, deaf and blind constituents have equal access to programs, activities, benefits, and services.
- Provide a high-quality, comprehensive interpreter training module lasting between 4 and 8 hours.
- The training will cover the topics listed below to ensure employees can convey information and facilitate understanding between individuals speaking different languages in multicultural settings within county:
• Roles of interpreter
• Modes of interpreting
• Sight translation
• Strategies for intervention
• Pre-session and post-session procedures
• Appropriate positioning
• Code of Ethics
• The role of culture in interpreting
• Communication styles
• Listening skills
• Additional relevant topics not listed above.
