The Vendor is required to provide crossing guards for all posts established by the township.
- Crossing guard unable to perform their duties due to a medical condition, or another unknown issue, whether it is felt the condition is acute or long term, such guard shall be removed from service and a medical screening shall be conducted.
- Crossing guards shall:
• Halt vehicles when necessary by mechanical and hand signal to permit children to cross the road safely.
• Direct traffic if necessary to maintain traffic flow as it pertains to the safety of crossing pedestrians.
• Maintain order among children assembled at street crossing points and permit them to cross only when they can do so safely.
• Report to the police department the license plate numbers of motor vehicles who violate traffic laws or crossing guard instructions.
• Make children aware of the elements of traffic safety and operation of pedestrian controls.
• Report the names of children who do not follow safety regulations to the department resource officer.
• Follow dress code as outlined within bid specifications.
• All crossing guards must be visible and remain at post during the entirety of the shift.
• Smoking, vaping, loud music, disruptive behavior, etc. shall not be tolerated while on post.
• All personal vehicles must be parked in legal parking area without blocking crosswalks and/or traffic patterns.
