The Vendor is required to provide for comprehensive design services for multiple library locations throughout county.
- A single design firm to provide analysis, design, and oversight of (5) design packets that are cohesive and within set guidelines.
- Site assessment:
1. Conduct site visits to understand current layouts, identify potential challenges, and observe user behaviors.
2. Engage with library staff and community members to gather feedback on existing spaces and desired improvements.
- Space planning:
1. Develop efficient and effective space designs that support diverse library functions, including reading areas, study rooms, community spaces, maker spaces, office, bookcases/stacks, restrooms, conference rooms, vending rooms, teen, and children’s, adult, fiction, and technology labs.
2. Ensure space designs comply with the act and local codes.
3. Include different scope of remodel (ex. full building remodel vs refresh of specific space)
- Architectural design:
1. Create detailed architectural plans, for any large and "built-in" interior features (example: if a children's area design includes a large feature such as castle wall with drawbridge to enter area).
2. Ensure designs meet applicable building codes and local regulations.
3. Incorporate sustainable design practices and materials where feasible, following guidelines set by the council and leed standards.
- Interior design:
1. Develop interior design concepts, including furniture selection, color schemes, materials, finishes, and fixtures.
2. Design packets should include specific colors, finishes, and guidance on how/when to use (ex. if there is brick, avoid "x" paint color on adjoining walls); include verbiage around accent furniture vs operational furniture (ex. flip top tables used in multi-functional conference room as standard furniture across portfolio)
3. Design to be usable for all varying site sizes
4. Ensure that the designs create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that reflects the identity of the county community.
- cost estimation:
1. Provide detailed cost estimates for the proposed design services and recommendations for budgetary considerations.
2. Identify potential funding opportunities or grants applicable to library design and renovation projects.
