The Vendor is required to provide of sign language interpreting services to assist faculty, staff, and students in a variety of settings to facilitate effective communication.
- Provides a mainstreamed learning environment for students who identify themselves as have a disability.
- Services include:
• Vendor will hold in-person, bi-annual reviews in January and July.
• Inquiries made by the college regarding interpreter conduct should be responded to within 24 hours.
• Inquiries made by the college regarding billing discrepancies should be responded to within 48 hours.
• Disputed billing requests older than 90 days will not be honored.
• Interpreting sessions billed more than 30 days after event will not be honored.
• Interpreters’ certification information should appear on each invoice.
• “Non-certified” will be noted for interpreters lacking certification.
• Prior to the beginning of each term, the counseling, disability, and health services office will work with the selected vendor to develop a schedule of sign language interpreter needs based upon the academic schedules of students requiring services.
• While an effort is made to develop an accurate schedule, the selected vendor must be flexible to last minute changes.
• The vendor must be able to fulfill additional requests for sign language interpreters made throughout the academic year.
• Must be capable of processing service requests from the key offices noted, ensuring that invoices for services are correctly directed to multiple purchase orders issued in any college fiscal year.
• Hourly fees should be inclusive of any set-up charges and billable in half-hour (30 minute) increments after the first full hour of services per event.
• Must demonstrate that all services are provided in accordance with ADA and section 504 of the rehabilitation act, including the ability to respond to same day and emergency requests.
• Must agree to a 24-hour cancelation policy.
• Must provide confirmation, notice, via email, once a request has been filled to include student name, interpreter name, date, time, and description of event/appointment.
• Must outline steps taken to ensure qualified interpreters are assigned.
• Must provide an accurate list of interpreters’ certifications (registry of interpreters for the deaf (RID)/ association, non-certified), including hourly rate.
• This list must be disseminated to the counseling, disability, and health services office prior to the beginning of each semester as certification may change in order to keep the institution abreast of any changes in rate(s).
• Interpreters are expected to adhere to the registry of interpreters for the deaf code of professional conduct.
• As agents hired by the college, all concerns related to a student with a disability must be directly communicated to the counseling, disability, and health services office.
• Additionally, any behavioral-related concerns should be directly reported by the interpreter to the office rights and responsibilities.
