The Vendor is required to provide a comprehensive solution that automates the dispensing of medications, tracks inventory, manages order fulfilment, and ensures secure storage of medications.
- Provide for the supply and installation of automated medication dispensing machines (AMDMs) in the accident and emergency, critical care and medical units as the first phase of a hospital-wide implementation project.
- The system must be capable of integrating seamlessly with the existing hospital Cerner information systems and pharmacy management systems.
- This may include, but is not limited to, electrical upgrades, network enhancements, software upgrades, and structural modifications to accommodate the new machines.
- Provide comprehensive training to our staff to ensure they are well-versed in operating the medication dispensing machines and have a solid understanding of the system's features and capabilities.
- Access and Authentication:
• Nurses shall access the AMDS utilizing unique credentials, such as password or biometric data (e.g., fingerprint or iris recognition).
• The system must be capable of presenting an inventory of available medications for a selected patient in a patient-specific mode.
- Operational Modes and Navigation:
• The AMDS should offer a general or drug-specific operational mode for use in urgent situations.
• The system must provide guided navigation to the exact location of the selected medication within the cabinet.
- Automated Dispensing and Security
• The system must be capable of automated dispensing, including counting, labelling, and packaging processes.
• Strict access controls, user authentication, and audit trails are required to secure patient information and medication dispensing procedures.
- Cabinet Specifications:
• Cabinets should be robust, durable, and secure, with a minimum of 200 medication slots.
• Must include a refrigeration module
- Barcode Scanning and Integration
• The system must include a barcode scanning feature for accurate item identification and tracking throughout the dispensing process.
• The AMDS should integrate seamlessly with existing pharmacy management software and the Cerner EHR systems for workflow efficiency and data consistency.
- Software Specifications:
• The software platform should support real-time tracking and advanced analytics.
• User roles and permissions must be defined to regulate access to medications.
• Alert systems for restocking, expiration dates, and recalls must be included.
• Integration with agency Cerner EHR and pharmacy management systems must be supported using standards such as HL7 or FHIR.
• User-friendly interface with customizable user-level access and privileges.
• Advanced analytics for usage patterns, stock levels, expiration tracking, and automated reordering.
• Support for interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR for data exchange.
• Integration with smart infusion pumps for dose error reduction.
• Automated alerts for drug interactions, allergies, and duplicate therapies.
- Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance services post-installation to ensure the smooth operation of the Machines.
- Must provide on-site and remote support.
