The Vendor is required to provide Spanish and lesser-used languages (LUL) interpreters, transcriptionists & translators, and sign language interpreters for court users and litigants with limited-English proficiency (LEP) as well as users who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, and/or blind.
- The Court reserves the right to remove any contracted interpreter and/or translator upon notification and issuance of an incident report to the contract interpreter’s and/or translator’s agency.
- Services are provided in all case types and in a variety of settings including, but not limited to: initial appearances; arraignments; pre-trial hearings; trials, sentencing hearings; settlement disputes; attorney or client interview; pre-sentence investigation interviews; post-conviction matters; counseling or treatment services; meeting with probation officers; arbitration; mediation; expedited visitation; parent information classes; conciliation; family law; probate matters; and other assignments or services as needed and or ordered.
- Sign Language interpretation is provided for Court users and litigants who are deaf or hard-of hearing, and/or blind.
- The Court has the final authority to make decisions about assignments, including the use and rotation of team interpreters.
- The Court reserves the right to remove any interpreter and/or translator at will upon the notification and issuance of an incident report involving the interpreter by the requesting agency/agencies.
- Simultaneous Interpreting: The oral transfer of the full and accurate meaning of the source language into the target language, while the source language is speaking, lagging just slightly behind the source version.
- Sight Translation: A mode of interpreting in which the interpreter reviews a written document in the source language and then interprets it aloud to a listening audience in the target language.
- Sign Language Interpreters: A person who holds an appropriate Arizona license and certification, and is able to interpret effectively, accurately, and impartially, facilitating communication in a visual and tactile form using any necessary specialized vocabulary or visual or tactile cues.
- Team Interpreting: When multiple interpreters work as a team during the interpretation event so they can switch off to maintain accuracy of the interpretation and avoid fatigue, also known as tandem interpreting.
- Telephonic Interpreting – On Demand: On demand interpretation delivered when the interpreter and all parties utilizing the interpretation services are communicating by telephone.
- Translation: A written transfer of meaning from a source document language into the target language.
- Provide the following types of services: sign language interpretation, both in-person and via remote video, remote hookup, tactile/low vision.
- Provide certified transcription and translation of video recordings when accepting a transcription/translation assignment from the Court.
- The Court may utilize On-Demand interpreting to provide attorneys and Court staff with convenient access to a phone bank of interpreters that provide interpretation services in multiple languages.
- Provide a faithful translation and transcription of every utterance given by the speaker and not omit or add to the versions they transcribe or translate, nor change the register, tone, or intent of versions.
- Full-day rates: Events may be scheduled for full-days (8-hours) with up to 1-hour unpaid meal break.
- Remote Video Interpreting: The Court may request a remote video interpretation event when the location of the event does not warrant the use of an in-person interpreter.
- Contract Period/Term: 5 years
