The Vendor is required to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services and related disability support resources.
- Agency will deliver interpreting services for university staff, faculty, visitors, and students registered with disability services, covering academic activities such as classes, laboratories, meetings, and other assignments.
- The volume of assignments may vary weekly depending on the number of students requiring services.
- For students who are deaf/Hard of Hearing and use sign language as their primary means of communication, we provide interpreter services.
- The awarded sign language interpreting agency will provide interpreting services for staff, faculty, visitors, identified students and their academic assignments (classes, labs, meetings etc.).
- The number of assignments/classes per week varies based on the number of students attending classes.
- Services to be provided includes, but is not limited to:
• The ability to provide, schedule, oversee, and bill in a timely and professional manner, a staff of highly qualified sign language interpreters with a background working in educational settings that maintain a minimum national standard for interpreters and are qualified for the post-secondary educational level;
• The ability to provide qualified substitute sign language interpreters should the assigned interpreter be unavailable;
• The ability to provide qualified interpreters within a 24-hour notice to the university;
• Willingness to collaborate with the university regarding prep time.
• The university will not pay for any prep time unless it is pre-approved;
• Agreement to return any textbooks that have been loaned;
• Agreement to prepare and submit invoices bi-weekly and include the name of the individual, event name, hours worked and if a team of interpreters were required;
• Responsibility for performing criminal background checks on all employees prior to their assignment to the county campus.
• The company will be required to provide proof of credentials if requested by the university.
• This shall include verification of the right to work in the country.
• Interpreting must meet the format - be provided in person for in person classes, meetings and events at the university and by video remote interpreting (VRI) for all remote components of classes, meetings and events at the university.
• There is a 2-hour minimum for supplier's on-site services.
• Remote services will be billed based on time spent during VRI.
• Furthermore, each interpreter will follow the code of ethics set by the registry of interpreters for the deaf, Inc. (“RID”).
- Provide on-site interpreting services at the university and designated affiliate locations.
- Interpreters should be scheduled to minimize drive-time charges, ideally limiting to one charge per interpreter per day.
