The vendor is required to provide to be given a presence on our website or at our fair, a study abroad provider must offer a wide range of academic disciplines, including stem, or offer programs in a range of geographic locations, or both.
- Even with these criteria in place, the number of programs is unmanageable, so we look at a several further characteristics, the presence of which strengthens the provider’s alignment with the preferred study abroad standards for agency students.
- These include, in order of importance:
• Programs whose cost is near state in-state cost of attendance
• Selection by and collaboration with a state college, center, or department to provide academically suited programming for cohorts of their majors
• Availability of financial aid from the provider
• Articulation and assessment of intercultural learning outcomes in addition to academic ones
• Access for students to academically aligned experiential learning options such as internships, undergraduate research, field work, independent study/capstone, and service.
• A clearly articulated commitment to ethical community engagement.
• Potential or current customization support for state faculty-led programs.
• Career readiness coaching for participants; post-program career connection guidance.
• Partnership with one or more of agency academic partners abroad.
